Mo season 2 is coming back to Netflix. The streaming giant has renewed the critically acclaimed series for a final season. The news comes nearly five months after the release of Season 1, which dropped in its entirety on Aug. 24.
The bittersweet announcement was exclusively revealed by Deadline. In a statement, Mo Amer told Deadline:
“I’m thankful to continue to tell a universal story of struggle that relates to so many refugees and millions of under-represented humans trying to be seen around the globe and to be able to bring the people who loved and rooted for Mo Najjar along for the ride as we close this chapter of his story,”
Created by Mohammed “Mo” Amer and Ramy Youssef, the series stars Amer himself, Teresa Ruiz (Narcos: Mexico), and Omar Elba (Limetown). The story focuses on a Palestinian refugee living in Houston doing everything it takes to keep his head above water while hoping to gain full US citizenship

Over eight half-hour episodes, “Mo” drops us into Mo’s life in Texas in the months before he gets to this hearing. Years after his family fled Kuwait, and was unable to return home to Palestine, Mo’s now an affable hustler selling designer replicas out of his trunk while juggling jobs that will look past his lack of U.S. citizenship.
Mo Season 2 will bring its hero’s journey for asylum to an end, with Amer reprising his role as Mo, alongside Teresa Ruiz (Maria), Farah Bsieso (Yusra) and Omar Elba (Sameer), who are back as series regulars
Mo has already garnered its fair share of fans dedicated to Mo’s fight to juggle cultures, languages and responsibilities. “Mo” was met with critical acclaim upon its release, with the first season holding a perfect 100% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Since its Aug. 2022 debut, Mo has won the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Television Under 40 Minutes and will be honoured at the 2023 American Film Institute Awards. Amer himself has also been nominated for a 2023 Independent Spirit Award. For Mo — and for its protagonist — anything’s possible; it’s all about the journey
