The franchise is a series of action movies that follow the story of John Wick, a former hitman who seeks revenge against the people who wronged him.
It all started in 2014 with the release of the first instalment of the
Movie. Directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad, the first movie, “John Wick,” introduces the audience to the character of John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves.
Wick is a retired hitman drawn back into organised crime after his beloved dog is killed and a gang of Russian thugs steals his car. The movie follows Wick’s quest for revenge as he takes on the entire criminal underworld of New York City.

The second instalment, “John Wick: Chapter 2,” continues the story of Wick. He is forced to return to his old life when a former associate plot to take over a shadowy international assassins’ guild. The movie expands the world-building of the franchise, introducing new characters and organizations.
“John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” came in 2019 and picked up immediately after the events of the second movie. Wick is on the run and fighting for his life after being declared “excommunicado” by the High Table, a powerful international organization that controls the world’s criminal underworld.

After a two-year hiatus, the latest instalment in the John Wick franchise, “John Wick: Chapter 4,” is set to hit theatres. This will be followed by the release of two related projects later in the year: the spin-off film “Ballerina,” featuring Ana de Armas, and the prequel series “The Continental.” Additionally, a fifth instalment in the John Wick series is currently in development.
