It appears that 2023 will be a fantastic year for movies, particularly those released in theatres. This year, companies are taking a risk by releasing a large number of films in theatres rather than on streaming services, as has become the norm in recent years.
The summer film season is in full motion, and the most anticipated new movies arriving in theatres and on streaming services in July 2023 are generating a great deal of buzz online. The weekend of July 21 could be the busiest weekend of the year for tourists and theatregoers.
Here is our list of the most anticipated new movies of July 2023, let us know which one you waiting for in the comment section. Enjoy the read
Insidious: The Red Door (July 7)
Yes, you did predict correctly! Insidious: The Last Key did not conclude the Insidious franchise. In fact, Blumhouse Productions intended to continue profiting from this series by creating sequels, spin-offs, and possibly even crossover films with other series. This plan includes the upcoming film Insidious: The Red Door, a direct sequel to the first two films in the series, Insidious and Insidious: Chapter 2.
The series’ original cast will return “to end the haunting and put the demons to rest once and for all.” Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Dalton (Ty Simpkins), who are now college students, will venture deep into The Further to confront their evil past and discover what’s going on with The Red Door. Given that the previous Insidious films were terrifying, audiences should anticipate the same from this instalment.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (July 12)
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part One is anticipated to satisfy fans and perform well at the box office due to Tom Cruise’s continued popularity from Top Gun: Maverick and the chatter surrounding the Mission Impossible brand. Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and the rest of the squad are on a mission to locate a highly lethal weapon before Ethan’s former enemies acquire it.
With Christopher McQuarrie at the helm, the film will be filled with action and stunts, such as a motorcycle racing off a precipice. But it is not yet over! Next will be Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2, which is scheduled for release in 2024 but could be delayed. Even though it was initially stated that these two instalments would be Ethan Hunt’s last, McQuarrie recently stated, “The plan always changes,” suggesting that the series may continue.
Since the first teaser was released last year, MI Dead Reckoning Part 1 has been one of the most anticipated movies of 2023.
Bird Box Barcelona (July 14)
In 2018, Bird Box was such a success for Netflix that they decided to create a spin-off set in a different country. Bird Box Barcelona is a Spanish film that will only be available on Netflix. It occurs in the same post-apocalyptic world as Bird Box, where bizarre creatures attack and cause people to end their life if they gaze at them.
Bird Box Barcelona is not a direct sequel to Bird Box, but its plot is akin to that of the original film. It follows Sebastián (Mario Casas) and his daughter Sophia (Naila Schuberth) as they and other survivors attempt to flee the catastrophe by avoiding the creatures that have taken over the world.
Barbie (July 21)
Barbie is the first to be filmed in real life, following a long line of animated Barbie films. The film features a large cast, but Barbie (Margot Robbie) and Ken (Ryan Gosling) are the central figures. There will be numerous Barbies and Kens in the film, which stars Kate McKinnon, Dua Lipa, Nicola Coughlan, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Hari Nef, Simu Liu, Scot Evans, and Ncuti Gatwa, among others. After being kicked out of Barbieland for not being a decent enough doll, the narrative of the film will revolve around Barbie’s transition into the real world.
In 2009, Universal Pictures was developing a Barbie film, but in 2014, Sony Pictures acquired the rights. Before Sony granted the film’s rights to Warner Bros. Pictures, Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway were attached to the project. The hiring of Robbie occurred in 2019. Greta Gerwig entered the project as co-writer and director in 2021. She stated that she was hesitant to direct the film because she believed it would be the end of her career, but she ultimately decided to take the risk. Given that Gerwig has directed critically acclaimed films such as “Lady Bird” and “Little Women,” it will be intriguing to see how she views Barbie and how she caused a global paucity of pink paint.
Oppenheimer (July 21)
The historical thriller Dunkirk by Christopher Nolan received positive reviews and was nominated for an Academy Award for the first time. He is anticipated to follow in the footsteps of Oppenheimer, which has already made headlines in recent months for its dramatic atomic explosion scene, in which Nolan used actual effects as opposed to CGI.
Oppenheimer is a film about the tumultuous life of J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) that is unlike Nolan’s other films. Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, Rami Malek, Matt Damon, and Robert Downey Jr. are all A-list performers in the film Oppenheimer. Expect some of the year’s most intense performances.
The Beanie Bubble (July 28)
Beanie Babies are one of the most popular lines of plush animals not only in the United States but in many other nations as well. Forbes reports that Ty Warner’s net worth has increased to $5.9 billion due to the growing popularity of Beanie Babies. If you’ve ever wondered how these objects came to be, you should see The Beanie Bubble in select theatres on July 21, 2023, or on Apple TV+ on July 28, 2023.
The film depicts how three women—Robbie (Elizabeth Banks), Sheila Warner (Sarah Snook), and Maya (Geraldine Viswanathan)—aided Ty Warner (Zach Galifianakis) in turning his plastic animals into a popular 1990s fad and becoming the wealthy industrialist he is today. Don’t consider every scene and event in the film too seriously, as it is a comedy-drama and not a documentary or a report.
Everyone who enjoys going to the cinema will have something to look forward to in July 2023, given the release of these excellent films. If you loved our list of the most anticipated new movies of July 2023, here are some more list you can check out
