Buruklyn Boyz’s Goodbye is definitely the most addictive song right now.
What do you get when you blend Drill music and Genge? Well, you guessed it, an addictive concoction. Goodbye is the newest installation from Kenyan drill group Buruklyn Boyz and the super producer Kagwe mungai.
Buruklyn Boyz’s Goodbye music video opens with a statement that reads “Kagwe Mungai and Buruklyn Boyz wrote a song using the most searched Sheng words on Google.” The next thing you hear is Sanaipei Tande’s voice in the 2008 hit song Kwaheri by the legendary Jua Cali.
I love the way they artistically sampled and used the title of the song in this new project. Released 15 years ago is the 13 track off Jua Cali’s second album “Ngeli ya Genge”. The lyrics, video and audio transitions are insanely amazing, this is definitely something we didn’t anticipate.
Written and performed by Ajay, Mrright and Young Louie the song was produced by Kagwe Mungai. The project was also produced by Google in partnership with Kagwe’s media agency OBY Africa.
The visuals were directed by onlyomoke under Spade Productions.
